Lustrum Gala subscription is open
Feb 25, 2010
Author: Lustrum Committee

The Vectum event of the year is right around the corner! On Saturday the 24th of April the Vectum Lustrum Gala will take place at the Crowne Plaza hotel in Maastricht. A three course dinner will be served and the music will be provided by the live band Anderkovver.

Our association would not have made it this far without all members that have participated over the years. Whether you were in the board, an active member, just a loyal participator or even when you are still studying, each and every one of you contributed to making it to the third lustrum. Also faculty members who have enthusiastically given research lectures, written articles for PerVectum or joined us for a drink or two at the Preuverij helped to make Vectum a great association. Therefore it would be an honour to welcome all of you at our gala!

If you don’t want to miss the highlight of this academic year, you can now subscribe for a place on our guest list for only €30,00 per person. Bringing a guest with you is of course no problem.

Dress code: Black tie invited.

Come and celebrate 15 years of Vectum in style, don’t miss it!

In the week after carnaval, Stephan Smeekes is going to give us a lecture about his research, which is followed by a drink at the Preuv. And because of the success of last Movie Night, we decided to repeat this activity. Stay tuned for the movie poll!

On the 8th of March, the biggest event of the year for any econometrician is taking place: the Landelijke Econometristen Dag (LED) 2010, in Amsterdam. 26 companies are giving us an insight in their work. The day is closed with a luxurious dinner and a party!

Carting is a returning Vectum activity, and this year will be no exception! To close off this block properly, we will head to Maasmechelen and see whether Ruud can win back his title as Carting Champion!

Viva la Vectum makes it to the semi’s!

On 22 September 2009 true football fanatics, rookie players and die-hard Vectum supporters left for Rotterdam for the annual econometricians’ football tournament of 2009. Vectum had 3 participating teams this year, one consisting of only first year students, one with mostly second year students and one team which all of Vectum had set its hopes on: Viva la Vectum. A team consisting of people that actually knew what they were doing on those fields.

In the group phase of the tournament they didn’t lose one match, so of course they made it to the semi-finals. Unfortunately they were the only team that made it through, so everyone assembled along the sideline to cheer on our dream team. It was thrilling right from the start as the two teams really were a match for each other. Unfortunately our opponent scored first, but Viva la Vectum fought back and in the last seconds of the match they scored as well. It was 1 – 1 so penalties were necessary to decide which team earned that desired spot in the final. Unfortunately, Viva la Vectum got the worst of it and didn’t make it, but nevertheless they can be very proud of their achievements at the LEVT 2009.

We’ve already had a lot of nice activities in the past few weeks, but we’ve still got one for you in store, as upcoming Monday the All Options poker tournament will take place. More information can be found on the activities page. So, if you want to have another great evening with Vectum, put on you poker face and be there!
